Now I feel incredibly guilty: I couldn't control myself and painted a different lady from my girlfriend. If she sees or reads this, I want to say: you'll always be more beautiful. There's no need to be jealous.
But yes, I did paint this beautiful, fully exposed old lady. I first saw her -- then way less exposed, when I was a little boy:
My city, Den Bosch.
Artists sometimes like saying that something inspired them to make their art, but although things inspire me, I'm mostly just obsessed with making art -- that's always my primary motivation for creating more.
At the moment, I've got some new ideas -- so more than ever, I want to paint just about anything I find.
Anyway, a lot of my art, going back, has greatly been inspired by the city, and if not directly, the ideas for the art pieces came while walking through her.
Recently, I went to a garage close to the government building in the middle of the city. And for the first time, at least since I remember, I walked to the top, and here I (pretended I) sketched.
There's not much more for me to say that the painting shouldn't scream.
