The family of my half-sister, Americans, had never eaten any vegetables or fruit in their lives. Instead, they opted for poor, sugary imitations. To one of my ancestors, and you don't have to go that far back, our everyday fruit might seem like imitations of theirs. But our selectively bred, more extensive, more consistent, more colorful, and less seedy fruit is a sign of the inventiveness of humans and how we can use nature for our benefit. Although genius, the processed food my sister's family ate is just not as great, as they rely much less on enhancing natural flavors and more on optimizing addictive food. That's just personal taste, though. What is objective is that fruit is more beautiful and fun to portray.
